Clear your existing worksheet or create a new worksheet (in the bottom left next to Sheet 1).

Drag Sales to the Rows and Order Date to the Columns.

Click on the plus (+) next to Year in the Columns.

Quiz 1 below.

Click on the plus (+) next to the Quarter in the Columns.

Remove the Quarter from the Columns, so only Year and Month remain.

Convert the Order Date to Continuous and replace in the Columns.

Click the plus until you are showing MONTH.

Notice the visual advantages of this plot even though it is essentially the same as the one you created above.

Select Category and Sub-Category.

Click the drop down for Category, and select Hierarchy -> Create Hierarchy.

Name the hierarchy. I named mine Categories.

Assure you are working with a blank sheet.

Move Profit to the Columns and your new hierarchy to the Rows.
